In Action 2008

This was another exciting and bsy year for us all at The Message Hub. Highlights of our year included:

  • Writing and producing a new InterClimate Network information booklet
  • Launching a new report for E3G on Innovation and Technology Transfer  which calls for urgent global investment in low carbon and adaptation innovation to be a central component of a new Global Climate Deal.
  • Supporting Costa Coffee PR launch of their commitment to using coffee supplied from Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farms.
  • The Message Hub tours some of the UK’s leading publishing houses spreading the Rainforest Alliance message to leading consumer titles such as She, Look, Marie Claire, Woman’s Own and Prima. Watch out for more about the Rainforest Alliance in 2009. 
  • The Message Hub completes the development of a strategic international communications strategy, website brief, various message houses and the development of a stakeholder engagement strategy for a start up organisation managing a project to help 16 to 19 year olds develop local solutions to climate change.
  • The Message Hub wins campaign development brief with Friends of the Earth.  Stuart was hired by FoE to interim manage the development of FoE’s new Low Carbon Communities campaign.
  • Helps WWF and Cornerhouse win their campaign to stop the British government from underwriting investments in the Sakhalin oil and gas development in the Russia Far East. Stuart project manages the development and implementation of the campaign for WWF which saw the governments Export Credit Guarantee Department withdraw from supporting this project.
  • The Message Hub supports the introduction of Rainforest Alliance certified coffee in all UK McDonalds restaurants.
  • Stars in a major PG Tips cinema ad.  Anita from The Message Hub is the star (well if you exclude monkey) of the PG Tips film A Tale of Two Continents in which she talks about the Rainforest Alliance and gets an on screen kiss from monkey.
  • The Message Hub’s Mary Singleton-White is appointed by WWF-UK to provide communications support around their partnership with Marks and Spencer and the Plan A initiative.
  • Stuart delivers an Influencing Skills workshop at the CABE Space Leaders conference in Manchester. Feedback from the workshop included: “It changed my idea on what my role should be and the avenues and people to target.” “Excellent! A good speaker, good information – I can really see the value of the session and will consider applying it at work.” “Excellent – some really useful practical tools which I can utilise in my work.”
  • developing and delivering a media programme to secure coverage and interest in the event and the report. See the Chatham House website.
  • Tearfund recruit The Message Hub to provide thinking on a new global campaign.  Tearfund, one of the UK’s leading development agencies, appointed The Message Hub  to provide some strategic thinking support as they develop a new global campaign plan. Tearfund are looking to take on the G8 among others to meet Millennium Development Goal commitments on water and sanitation and end the unnecessary death and suffering of millions who still lack these basics of life.
