openDemocracy coverage secured in the Guardian
The Message Hub has recently helped the leading news and comment website openDemocracy to publicise the visit of US based writer and activist, Charles Shaw. Charles is leading a project with openDemocracy called the oD Drug Policy Forum. He has been in the UK promoting his latest book Exile Nation – Drugs, Prison, Politics and Spirituality and working on his latest project, The Unheard Voices Project.
Stuart and Christina, from The Message Hub, worked closely with Charles and the oD team and secured a comment piece from Charles in the Guardian society as an introduction to the London event. On being told that the Guardian were interested in a piece from him he replied, "Awesome! Thank you, Stuart!"
Julian Stern, Executive Director at openDemocracy, said, “It was great to have the support of The Message Hub in putting this event and Charles’ visit together. We’re delighted with the coverage they secured in the Guardian and the opportunity this has given openDemocracy to raise the profile of this issue which is fundamental to our approach to justice and human rights.”
openDemocracy publishes high quality news analysis, debates and blogs about the world and the way we govern ourselves. They are not about any one set of issues, but about principles and the arguments and debates about those principles. openDemocracy believes there is an urgent need for a global culture of views and argument that is: serious, thoughtful and attractively written; accessible to all; open to ideas and submissions from anywhere, part of a global human conversation that is not distorted by parochial national interests; and original and creative, able to propose and debate solutions to the real problems that we all face.
Stuart, from The Message Hub, said, “I must confess I have been a fan and avid reader of openDemocracy from almost since they first launched. They are a great example of the fact that quality comment and journalism can and does exist within the new media environment. It’s been a real privilege to work with them and Charles and we hope to continue our relationship in the future”.
